More room to move.

Adaptive dance rooted in classical ballet and creative movement, where every child can explore movement in their own way.

A young dancer raises both arms overhead in front of the studio mirror, where the instructor's reflection echoes the same pose.

Movement belongs to everyone.

Gentle Barre is an adaptive dance program rooted in classical ballet and creative movement, with classes for children in Miami. Each class follows a familiar rhythm and moves at each child's pace, with room for different abilities, learning styles, sensory needs, and ways of participating. Autistic and neurodivergent children are warmly welcome, as is every child who loves to move.

About Gentle Barre

Movement has many languages.

Classical Ballet
A foundation of ballet vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and body awareness.
Creative Movement
Imagination, rhythm, exploration, and movement without one prescribed "right" way.
Sensory Awareness
Thoughtful pacing, transitions, props, and movement experiences.
Connection
Small-group instruction, encouragement, and attentive teaching.

There is more than one way to dance.

What a class feels like.

Every class has a shape that dancers come to know, with plenty of room inside it.

  1. Arrive

    Settle in and get comfortable.

  2. Move

Explore classical ballet foundations and creative movement.

  3. Play

Use props, music, imagination, and sensory experiences.

  4. Connect

Learn alongside instructors and other dancers.

  5. Create

Discover individual ways to express movement.

The order is a guide, never a rule. There is room to pause, room to try again, room to move differently.

Dance should be accessible.

We believe cost should not be a barrier to participation. Families may be able to use Step Up For Students scholarships at participating partner locations that are approved Step Up providers, and we are continuing to build additional pathways for families to access our classes.
